Course Description

In this in-depth two-day seminar, we cover all the main points of either DV, HDV or HD filmmaking including camerawork, lighting techniques, sound recording, music soundtrack creation, directing techniques and video editing. We discuss screen direction, image composition, steady-cam operating, aerial photography, how to shoot action sequences and more.

 

 


Daily Schedule
Saturday is devoted to a complete overview of the latest Production Tools. Manufacturers and professional guest filmmakers demonstrate technical innovations in camcorders, lighting, and sound equipment and reveal cool tips and tricks on how to get your project made efficiently.

Our training emphasizes practical know how. We come up with a technical test drive agenda that often times means working from scripted material and a professional director blocking a scene. In addition to having working industry on-hand, a manufacturer's spokes person is usually on site to demonstrate products and answer all your questions.

Sunday is all about post-production. A certified editing instructor demonstrates the latest HDV/HD compressed/uncompressed and/or SD edit software platforms. You learn about various high-end post-production workflows by exploring HDSDI hardware and software connectivity solutions.

You learn some edit theory plus how to navigate smoothly through the interface, to capture material, create clips and organize your media. You learn lots of insider tips how to assemble selected takes to create a dialogue sequence and add a music soundtrack. You learn about delivery to film out and how to prepare your content for multi-media release using innovative compression software.

We've set up a series of workshops to train you in the fundamentals of digital video filmmaking. The workshops are designed to complement each other, however each course is a stand-alone event. The "DV Home Movies" & "DV Filmmaking" are soup to nuts training and overview. The other workshops target specific skills with more hands on training. At each session there is an abundance of the latest manufacturers products and documentation on hand for you to see.
