Course Objective
This workshop is designed to provide a thorough, in the field, hands on experience shooting and editing a digital short subject.

Course Description
A two-day intensive hands on DV filmmaking workshop where you're in the trenches shooting and editing a short. We provide the latest equipment, the location, the script and the professional actors. We make it fun while you get to learn by doing. Each student gets hands-on experience shooting, lighting, sound recording and editing. Quiet on the Set! Roll Sound!

Daily Schedule
Day one:
We begin with a brief production meeting where the actors read through the shooting script and we discuss how to effectively tell the story. Then, students are assigned crew positions and begin to set-up the cameras, lighting, grip and sound gear. One group gets to prepare, set-up and shoot the dramaticscene, the other group gets to prepare, set-up and shoot the behind the scenes reality based documentary coverage. By the way, we switch crew position frequently so you have the opportunity to appreciate how everyone contributes to the filmmaking process right down to the most important job on the set; a good craft service table!

Canon GL2 Day two:
Students sit at individual computer workstations and begin shaping the previous days selected takes. Using the latest video edit applications to capture selected takes you begin to assemble your edited master cut. You learn to add music, effects and prepare you film for multi-media output.

That's a wrap! Just in time to invite a relative, agent or pet reptile to the gala red carpet screening; carpet color subject to location.

Benefits
You experience filmmaking first hand. Call us crazy but we feel this is a really good way to learn how it is done without signing up for four years of film school. You learn how to effectively use the latest digital film tools. Filmmaking is a collaborative process and while organizing set ups you develop teamwork. You learn set etiquette including how to stand around and hold a coffee cup like a teamster's, (no offense guys), analyze a script, create storyboards, and block action for camera and sound. Most importantly, you learn lots of cool tips and tricks from working industry professionals. If you haven't guessed it already, the camp is noted for its casual atmosphere and gives participants plenty of time for informal discussions with the teaching staff.
