Course Objective
This workshop is designed to provide an overview of the principles of narrative editing. This includes practical hands on experience using the latest non-linear editing applications. Topics include capture, navigating the timeline, sound, music, effects and various methods to output your project.

Course Description
A two-day intensive workshop session designed to teach you the fundamentals of film editing. Students learn the basic principles of film editing plus the opportunity sit at individual workstations and put theory into practice by developing basic editing skills. You learn advanced features like sound editing, creating a music soundtrack and preparing your content for multi-media release using innovative compression software.

Daily Schedule
Day one:
Consists of a basic seminar style overview; you learn basic editorial principles, review common terminology, discuss techniques and see clips from academy award winners. Students see an overview on how to navigate a non-linear edit timeline, capture footage, organize clips, create bins and use common editing tools.

Day two:
The second day you sit at an individual workstation for a thoroughly hands on edit session. You sharpen your skills by editing an uncut dialogue sequence. You work along side a professional editor and learn how shape and polish the footage to give it a dramatic interpretation. You also learn how to edit soundtracks, bring in music, create basic visual effects, and color correct scenes. The camp is noted for its casual atmosphere and gives participants plenty of time for informal discussions with the teaching staff.

We've set up a series of workshops to train you in the fundamentals of digital video filmmaking. The workshops are designed to complement each other, however each course is a stand-alone event. The "DV Home Movies" & "DV Filmmaking" are soup to nuts training and overview. The other workshops target specific skills with more hands on training. At each session there is an abundance of the latest manufacturers products and documentation on hand for you to see.
